Body found in suitcase was of young woman from Malawi

The woman whose remains were found yesterday in a suitcase on a Dublin street was in her 20s and from Malawi. It is understood she was strangled or suffocated.
She had been studying here for around two years and had a last known address at a flat in Rathmines.
The woman's remains were found by a passer-by on Blackhorse Avenue at about 8.30am yesterday.
It is understood she was strangled or suffocated on Saturday. Her fully clothed body was then put into the bag, which was then walked to where it was found near some wheelie bins.
It is believed the suitcase was left on Blackhorse Avenue sometime before 7pm on Saturday evening.
Gardaí will make a public appeal for information later today.
