Govt to consult Opposition on Constitutional changes

22/02/2012 - 07:00

The Government is to consult with the Opposition on its long-promised changes to the Constitution.

The Cabinet wants the views of the other parties before establishing a constitutional convention.

However, it is expected it will consist of 100 people drawn from citizens and politicians and will take submissions.

Among the issues to be examined are cutting the voting age, the term of the Presidency and whether there should be same sex marriage.
